PRODUCTION DESIGN
Tim, APDG, has been a designer for stage and screen for 33 years.
He designed Blood Relations for the Sydney Theatre Company and State Theatre Company of South Australia and The Rake’s Progress and Curlew River for The Australian Opera, Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, amongst others.
His feature film credits include the romantic comedy Dating the Enemy, The Matrix (as Set Decorator) and ManThing for Marvel Pictures. Diversity is the keyword to his design genres, with over 40 screen Design credits. Television credits include three seasons of cult favourite Farscape for the Sci-Fi Network, where he created a new world every week. Also the gritty multi-award-winning East West 101 for SBS, two seasons of A Place to call Home and all four seasons of the mega popular Love Child.
In 2004, he designed the convict period mini series The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant for which he received an Australian Film Institute award nomination for Best Production Design. More recently, he designed the The Commons for Stan and Friday On My Mind, the ABC music biography of The Easybeats, for both of which he received an AACTA nomination for Best TV Drama Production Design and winning for the APDG award for Friday On My Mind.
Tim has lectured in screen design at AFTRS, NIDA and TAFE. He is currently the co-chair of the Screen Design Committee for the APDG.
